Goals: how many of us have them, how many of us can ACTUALLY sustain them?  While we are in March (OMG, when did March get here!?) I have faith in you that you are holding strong with your 2019 goals and New Year resolutions!  As some of you may know I don’t really do resolutions but stick to new goals that I implement throughout the year.  Regardless of if it is May or January, if a new idea hits me, we are going to go for it!

One thing I aim to do is GROW.  Mentally, financially, spiritually, you name it.  I want to be engulfed with knowledge and power.  In order to do that, every day must be used to promote change.    One of my favorite quotes from C.S. Lewis is:

“If you want to get warm, you must stand near the fire; if you want to get wet, you must get into the water.  If you want joy, power, peace, eternal life, you must get close to or even into, the thing that has them.”

Good stuff right!

So with that being said, I have been thinking about what goals can I accomplish in 2019.  2018 was an amazing experience of a lot of focused reading and I definitely learned a lot.  This year I wanted to do something different; yes I will continue to read but I wanted to take it to the next level.   Earlier this year I got the opportunity to see “The Hate You Give” author Angie Thomas.  GUYS, she killed it!  Her raw thoughts on racism, inequality, prejudice, and love swept me up in a little bottle and had me on cloud 10 for DAYYYYYSSSS!  After that experience, not only was I super excited to start reading her new book “On The Come Up”; in which she signed mind you, but I was also soooo inspired to meet other authors.

Sooo drum roll please! I have decided that this year will be dedicated to going to different book/ author

forums. WHOOP WHOOP!  I don’t want to put a limit on the number of authors I personally meet, but I do want to at least visit a forum a month. I am so blessed to have such an amazing local bookstore Parnassus Books that has literally weekly events with different authors.  From YA, to children, to poetry I have a ton of options; which also means I have no excuse to not make this happen! I want to meet authors to get a better understanding on why they write, who inspires them, why they think how they think etc.!

Let’s be honest, this new goal wouldn’t be as fun without seeing Michelle Obama sooo THANKFULLY I have a few girl friends who have a low key obsession with the queen herself like I do; and we will be making a trip to CANADA for the Becoming TOUR!!! I PROMISE to blog all about it and share my experience with you and hopefully make you feel like you were there!

So tell me, what are your goals for the year!?  Book goals or not, we all have to aim to do and be better then we were in 2018!  I can’t wait to here from you, but until next time, HAPPY READING!

  1. My goals for 2019 are to get into a grad school program, create my website to launch my art/photography portfolio, become even more involved with my church and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

  2. It’s so important to have goals! Sometimes I think I have too many, but I have achieved a lot in my life so far! Due to have my second baby any day though so I think it’s time to take a step back for a while!
